Helvetica Monopoly

Aprops I've really been wanting to play Monopoly lately. This might be related to the current economic downturn. After all the original game was invented during the tail end of the Great Depression...

Virtual Ping Pong

Created by Austrailian company ENESS, this virtual whiteboard pong game is stunning. It uses an ordinary whiteboard, regular markers and of course some digital magic. Check out the awesome demo. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azP-1Ja1GLc]

Considering that I'm the reigning champ at mini-pong with a six game winning streak against six different opponents ranging in skill level from weak to weak sauce, I would probably rule at this whiteboard variant as well. Bring it on.

Raddest Rock Band Axe Ever

At the office we finally got the game room complete with Rock Band 2 AND Guitar Hero World Tour. I did kill it today getting 100 percent on guitar. Twice. Okay, fine. It was on medium, but still! Shut up Moye about how you play on Rock Band on expert blah blah blah. Anyway, the game room is pretty sweet. It would be a lot sweeter though if we had THIS guitar. Behold:

Awesome Game Trailer: Mirror's Edge

Using actual gameplay instead of pre-rendered videos, this trailer for EA's unique new game Mirror's Edge that incorporates parkour or l'art du déplacement makes the game look incredible. Watching the trailer definitely triggered my acrophobia. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N1TJP1cxmo]

FPPS: First Person Paint Shooter

Titled "The Unfinished Swan," this tech demo of a puzzle game combined with a first person shooter created by Ian Dallas made my brain explode. Stunning and beautiful. Seriously, watch this. [vimeo 1807754]

This game is expected to arrive in March 2009 on the Xbox 360.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY: DAVE & BUSTERS

After work on Thursday I went to Dave and Busters in Times Square for a work outing. On a side note, following the law that requires chain restaurants to list calorie counts, it is shocking how many calories are in 99 percent of the items on the D&B menu. Wow. This photo cracks me up, mainly due to the combination that Lorenzo has going here: Funny Transformers t-shirt, huge glass of beer, and a plastic orange uzi. It's almost art.

Here I am with Dana gettin' our ethnically ambiguous terrorist hurtin' on! I freakin' loved this game. I like the assault rifle style controller, which is more comfortable over a sustained period of play, as well as the single-semi-auto fire switch located near the trigger. Added a nice depth to the game play. [Photo credit: Lorenzo]

Gina and Oliver with some serious Gatling shooting action. These games are a good distraction and stress reliever from a busy work week!

I won a crapload of tickets!!! Okay, maybe not. This machine was undergoing some maintenance or something.

A jumping...game. Perfect for...jumping photos. Although this game is surprisingly more difficult that it seemed! So I just went for some style points here. [Photo credit: Lorenzo]

Skee ball! My future penthouse apartment loft in Soho is going to have a couple of these machines.

This was one of those "fully immersive" games... It just made me motion sick. [Photo credit: Lorenzo]

The End.

CONAN VS. SERENA IN A WiiCKED TENNIS MATCH

This is why I love Conan O'Brian over all the other late night hosts, although my old fogie self as of late is finding his show's airing a bit past my bedtime.  This is where you whisper, "That's because you're an old man.  You're a burden now to our society.  Shuffle away and just die." But thanks to the user generated, or rather user recorded content power of YouTube and the near instant gratification that it provides, I was able to view a segment from Thursday night's episode of Conan O'Brian that featured him (in a very special, that is in very especially disturbing costume) in an epic tennis match against tennis great Serena Williams...brought to you by the Nintendo Wii.

I won't spoil the outcome for you, but watching it and seeing just how fun these two were having with the Wii made me decide which to eventually choose between the Nintendo and the Xbox 360.
