I like the simplicity of the latest effort from Improv Everywhere that appeared to bring a smile to all the morning commuters in New York City: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abt8aAB-Dr0&fmt=18]

Improv Everywhere
Improv Everywhere's latest stunt took place at JFK airport where their "agents" along with cooperative car drivers boisterously greeted with flowers, signs, and balloons randomly selected arriving travelers.

Brilliant as always.
Improv Everywhere's latest hack involved a whole lotta twins and producing a mirrored subway train. Genius x 2!

I received the email for this event awhile but saw that it required a camera with a flash, which I lack. The email invite never reveals what the "improv" will be until the actual event. So seeing the final result, despite the rain, makes me so sad that I couldn't participate! This one sent nearly 700 people on a pouring evening to the Brooklyn Bridge where they attempted to create a "wave" (like at sports games) with camera flashes. The video doesn't really do justice it appears, but the images snapped by the photographers set to capture the event are amazing. Although with our current hyper-asininely paranoid security apparatus I'm surprised this wasn't shut down the police. I imagine the sight of 700 people holding "tech" devices (you know, IEDs) on the Brooklyn Bridge would freak some people out. You know, NEVER FORGET!
Improv Everywhere, the same people that brought you the recent "frozen in time" spectacle in Grand Central Terminal in New York City (which was rapidly copy-cat'ed around the world) staged a musical in a crowded food court at a mall in LA. Check out their website for other great past improv coups. Relatedly
An improv group at Columbia University years back did a similar thing, except instead of a mall, they used the obvious settings of Butler library (ahh, Butler how I don't miss the nasty smell of the 4th floor study room and your insanely crowds during midterms and finals) and a lecture.
