Marketing of the Watchmen, a movie I'm eagerly anticipating in 2009, is ramping up. I like this Flickr photostream ostensibly belonging to The New Frontiersman, a prominent right-wing newspaper in the graphic novel and film.

Watchmen co-creator and artist Dave Gibbons' companion book Watching the Watchmen is a real insider treat for fans of this seminal and iconic graphic novel. Here's some of the original concept art. I'm really glad Gibbons and Alan Moore decided to not go with the Rorschach seen in this early sketch.

The Watchmen is one of my all time favorite novels ever, and from the first trailer the film adaptation looks very promising. I'm not spoiling anything, but I did notice that this teaser includes a lot of seminal scenes from the graphic novel--out of context as it is edited here it doesn't mean much but wow, I'm amazed at the very last shot.
