Update: I just want to note that I posted about this before Neatorama got on it.
Thankfully New Orleans was left relatively unscathed in Hurricane Gustav's wake, save for some downed power lines and downed trees. But this photo apparently from a New Orleans bar prior to Gustav's arrival injected some humor into a seemingly dire situation.
If I was a resident I would have firmly been in the "Run like a bitch" camp.
This makes me happy.
I'm very hesitant to discuss work here for obvious reasons, but I wanted to share this harmless anecdote which struck me as being quite funny. On friday, the sales director walked over to us with a quick question. "You guys are hipsters" she stated, ignoring my bemused puzzlement at her declaration.
"So what are some cool and nifty websites out there?" she asked.
I rattled off a few websites that I liked such as Gothamist, Gawker, Boing Boing and Flickr which she jotted down.
Thanking me for my help, and before walking back, she laughed and said, "I still like weather.com."
This Alaskan is kinda stoked to see it snowing--not that light puny snow, but the big snowflake shit--outside his Brooklyn apartment window right now. But then I'm kinda pissed that it didn't snow on Friday/Saturday before I went snowboarding. Here's the view from my window at the moment:
Okay, maybe not (it's actually from my 'rents house in Alaska), but I'm hoping that's what it'll look like when I wake up in 8 hours.
