Artist Berndnaut Smilde is able to create ephemeral floating clouds in a room by using a (spoiler alert!) fog machine while carefully controlling the room's temperature and humidity. Boy, I would love to see this in person.

Learned about artist Sandow Birk via ub14. I have such a fetish for art subverting and critiquing the CCTV security apparatus state: Banksy and Ai Weiwei's marble CCTV comes to mind.
One thing that I treasure about living in New York City is getting the chance to see some of the world's "best" art with my own eyes. Having taken art history classes in college before moving to NYC, I can say that there is a vast difference between art history books and seeing the real thing at The Met or MoMA. This is one good reason why it pays to see art in person.
I'm in love with this painting by Diego Gravinese. It's ominous and foreboding yet with a sense of wonderment.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Fg8Ej8P8dcw] Cool project by @romsson. At least I thought it was cool, but the most voted comment on the video is "Where is the audio. I want audio." INTERNET SO DEMANDING. THIS IS WHY INTERNET CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.
Edit: Annie IM'd me about this similar video which used intros for James Bond movies. Tres cool.
Takashi Murakami at Miami Art Basel in 2008.
I never thought I'd say this, but I really want to go to St Louis again to see this insane exhibit at The City Museum in St. Louis and for the biscuits and steak at Sidney Street Cafe.
Pretty spectacular photo of Ansel Adams rocking paisley and a catcher's outfit.
Loving this art piece by an Austrian artist, Werner Reiterer (previously).

I need to stop by this gallery if I'm ever in Solingen, Germany.
Museum Plagiarius...a gallery that showcases the nuances of knockoffs by exhibiting fakes alongside their authentic counterparts. Every year curators add to the collection by soliciting nominees for the Plagiarius Awards. Designers and manufacturers submit the offending objects, and the “winners” earn a spot in the museum.
I'm going to submit burritos from NYC as counterfeits of what a real burrito should taste like.
[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/35109750] Skip to the 0:23 mark to see why this still life "painting" by Scott Garner is brilliant and blog worthy, because you know, "blog worthy" is the ultimate compliment in life 2.0.
Brittany Powell's sandwiches inspired by various iconic artists. Don't miss Brittany's series of self-help books: My favorite is the two part series, "Take Control" and "Give Up Control."
It's a bit kitschy, but I like these stamp paintings of Molly Rausch. She takes actual stamps and expands the landscape.
