Oleg Sharov's flying fingers plays "The Flight of the Bumble Bee" on an accordian in Leningrad in 1972. Pretty impressive. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqlS9t_VTmA&fmt=18]

Here are some of the entries I’ve posted over at Sundance Channel’s blog SUNfiltered.
Remember when emo was so cutting edge no one knew what it was? One magazine stepped into the confusing void and provided this helpful tutorial.

Every Friday I try to post over at Sundance Channel's blog SUNfiltered a round up of five music videos circulating around the Internet. I particularly liked Miles Fisher’s cover of "This Must Be The Place" (Originally by Talking Heads) which pays homage to our favorite fictional corporate sociopath. Wu Tang! Wu Tang! Lego! Lego! This Lego-ized music video for Wu Tang demonstrates that Wu Tang indeed is for the children. [vimeo=http://vimeo.com/5452385]
Harry Potter and Voldemort settle things the way us Brooklynites handle beef: a freestyle rap battle. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTHn5oFPmi8&fmt=18]
You can't touch the dark side especially when they are killing it with these dance moves. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbjrUOSss_o&fmt=18]
On the topic of the hagiography and tributes surrounding Michael Jackson's passing, the critic cold-heartedly suggested that everyone just get over it. Well, I for one am glad this Swedish dance group "Bounce" haven't gotten "over it," because they create one hell of a Michael Jackson flash mob. I can't believe I listened to this entire song, which is similar to my reaction after I visit a combination Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. "I can't believe I just went to a combination Taco Bell and Pizza Hut for food." [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ8ViYIeH04]
The bundled couple pictured in this iconic photograph snapped by Burk Uzzle from Woodstock in 1969 are still together forty years later! Nick and Bobbi Ercoline married a couple years after the famous music festival.

Enternal Moonwalk: An interactive site linking videos of people from all over the world of all shape and size moonwalking to create the eternal moonwalk in a tribute to the King of Pop. [Via]
I kind of really want to download this album.

It's almost a crime to auto tune a group that had such perfect melody, but I'm kind of feeling this slightly tripped out aut0-tuned cover of "I Want You Back" by Discovery, a collabo duo between Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot. The syllabic chant "ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma ma coo sa" that Michael Jackson sang in "Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'" was actually sampled from "African pop pioneer" Manu Dibango's song "Soul Makossa" released in 1972. Read the rest of the interesting background to this footnote in music history at The New Yorker.
It took me three days to figure out that there was another side to the tape. That was not the only naive mistake that I made; I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used to switch between two different types of cassette.
Another notable feature that the iPod has and the Walkman doesn't is "shuffle", where the player selects random tracks to play. Its a function that, on the face of it, the Walkman lacks. But I managed to create an impromptu shuffle feature simply by holding down "rewind" and releasing it randomly - effective, if a little laboured.
I did always like Sony's yellow Sports walkman series. Those were baller.

After that previous disgusting entry with the Nintendo controller carved into someone's arm, here's something a little lighter: An a capella cover by Perpetuum Jazzile of Toto's "Africa" including the intro thunderstorm, which I thought was pretty cool. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=054xg4Cidv4&fmt=18] This music video for Kyle Andrews’ catchy single “Sushi” is stitched together from hundreds of other YouTube clips. Also, check out my weekly Friday round up of five music videos circulating around the Internet that I find neat over at Sundance Channel's blog SUNfiltered.
I previously blogged this on point viral ad of a Hammer pants wearing flash mob synchronized dancing. Well, they've struck again and it's STILL amazing. Hey, T-Mobile, You've been SERVED. YOUR TURN. WHAT?

Relatedly, last spring I snapped a photo of this guy on the subway wearing some serious throwback Hammer pants.
