Regulate (Song), Synopsis

Must read synopsis on Wikipedia of Warren G and Nate Dogg's "Regulate."

On a cool, clear night (typical to Southern California) Warren G travels through his neighborhood, searching for women with whom he might initiate sexual intercourse. He has chosen to engage in this pursuit alone.

Nate Dogg, having just arrived in the east side of Long Beach, seeks Warren. On his way to find Warren, Nate passes a car full of women who are excited to see him. Regardless, he insists to the women that there is no cause for excitement.

Warren makes a left turn at 21st Street and Lewis Ave, in the East Hill/Salt Lake neighborhood, where he sees a group of young men enjoying a game of dice together. He parks his car and greets them. He is excited to find people to play with, but to his chagrin, he discovers they intend to relieve him of his material possessions. Once the hopeful robbers reveal their firearms, Warren realizes he is in a less than favorable predicament.

I see what your collaborative users did there.

Juicy Art

Some years ago on my original, now defunct, blog (a digital high five to everyone who remember mrod.xanga.com, 2003-2006) I shared a link to a site that created a portrait of Biggie as it played his song "Juicy." My friend Nick who might have been my first or second reader has since mentioned how much he enjoyed that link and had unsuccessfully searched for it.

Well, hat tip to my homie Jerome for recently resurfacing it on his blog. Here you go Nick: Please turn up your volume.

Last Night's Party

Its been awhile since I've done one of these party recaps. I belong to a little karaoke crew and we go about once a month to Duets. We're each allowed to bring one or two plus ones. After cursing me for the past month for not yet inviting him, Ayo (along with repeat guest Mariya) came along for the raucous thing that is karaoke. This is our story. Before karaoke, we usually eat and drink somewhere beforehand around KTown. Bon Chon and their magical fried chicken is often the default location. While eating, we noticed that Ayo has an OCD way of eating his chicken. While the rest of us tossed the bones into the communal trash, Ayo neatly and obsessively lined his up like some twisted fried chicken graveyard on his plate.

During dinner Mariya regaled with tales from the most dramatic wedding ever, a wedding where she was deeply bit by a dog. Here, she showed off the bite and by show I mean, we held her arm down so we could look and go "ewwwww."

Once at Duets, it didn't take long for us to shift into karaoke fifth gear. This picture was taken around the third song I believe and people are already standing on the seat.

I won't say who but Rolando accidentally knocked off Andy's glasses which meant for Lynda: PHOTO OP!

Ayo too concurred: PHOTO OP!...as Andy points at his blind eyes, "Ummm guys..." Andy had been talking about getting new glasses anyways so I think we actually all did him a big favor.

I don't remember what we were singing, but apparently Ayo and I are the only ones that think this song was worth raising our arms for.

Rolando FINALLY recognized the song. And he was happy.

RAWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I was saying to Andy, "I'M SORRY I SPILLED YOUR DRINK ON YOUR SHIRT. I WILL BE WILLING TO PAY FOR ITS DRY CLEANING." Andy replied, "IT'S OKAY BRO."

Whatever Mike was singing in the background this whole time was making us dance!

Lynda singing earnestly. Andy thinking "What am I singing??" Jay photo bombing.

Andy hitting them high notes. His fallen testicles are somewhere on the ground.

I'm speechless. Just when we think Andy's run out of expressions he pulls this.

Lynda wants more Bon Chon fried chicken.

We all had been waiting for over an hour for Jodeci's "Lately" aka one of the greatest songs of love, heartbreak and harmony. When it finally started playing we. went. crazy.

We went crazy for Jodeci except for Lynda who had never heard it before. I can sense your outrage. Lower your pitchforks people.

And on that note, the end.

Paul

He seems like such a square nowadays in his old age, but back in the days Paul McCartney looked like a fun dude to hang out with.

Tik Tok and California Gurls are Like, Totally the Same

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2dPA2dCRNY] A mash up between Kesha dollar sign s's "Tik Tok" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls" that attempts to prove they are in fact the same song. No, it is the newest Lady Gaga single. And here is a Korean pop singer Son Damdi's recent song that that tote bites Tik Tok. Or California Gurls. I can't tell.
