Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Photo of a busking Boba Fett snapped by Zach Hilder.
Today's craptastic weather reminds me of this honest weather map.
Spotted this sign today while walking around my neighborhood.
I read the following on a fellow straphanger's bag on the subway tonight.
"Scarf Ace: Say hello to my needle, friend."
Getting on my soapbox here for a second. Why? Because this is my blog. My less than 6-day-old unlimited subway metrocard, for which I paid $89 to New York City's MTA (Or in the interest of SEO, that's the New York City Transit Metropolitan Transportation Authority), failed this morning and the (unhelpful) station agent told me it was damaged and I needed to purchase a new one.
I think I've set an unofficial world record for the most expense subway rides I've essentially paid approximately $8.90 for each time I used the subway this past week.
I found Lucifer's quaint pied-à-terre while running some errands in Park Slope.
I know this has been around for eternity in IT (Internet Time), but watch this great parody by comedian Billy Eichner of Jay Z and Alicia Keys' anthem "Empire State of Mind." While Hova boasts the greatness of New York City, Eichner with a guest appearance by SNL-alum Rachel Dratch (where the cuss did she disappear to?) proclaims the superiority of a specific neighborhood and religion. I spotted what may be the world's thinnest door at my friend's apartment today.
This apartment in my neighborhood displays a poster with various "meaningful" aphorisms. Here is their latest one that I spotted this afternoon.
I've been really tardy with this, but here's the recap finally from Mariya's birthday party last month. Most of these photos were taken by Pooja who hijacked my camera. Thanks Pbad for taking pics!
The birthday celebration kicked off with karaoke. Here's Mun with mike in one hand and KFC in the other. It's a proven medical fact that the grease from the KFC chicken soothes a singer's throat.
Birthday girl in the middle surrounded by her friends, except the guy in the aggressively pink shirt. He was SO weird.
Duet in progress while a disinterested Mariya scans the song list for the next tune. But there was something missing from the room...
Oh right, FUCKING LIGHTS! NOW it's karaoke time.
Based on this photo, it is clear that the M in Melissa stands for Mazing!
Mariya on the mike.
CUPCAKESSSS! Oh yeah, they were first for Mariya, obviously. Then I ate two of them. The best thing about girls and cake at parties is how reticent they are about eating them in public, which lets vultures like me swoop in. Yes, I'll be obese when I'm 60. I'm okay with that. Also, Pooja: This is a great picture.
Big bro Kaizar and his wifey Ub visiting from Philly. Note camera around Kaizar's neck. Haha.
Kaizar giving his all into this song. Incidentally, that is the same expression he wears when he's social mediaing all over the Internets.
Mariya's BFF Veronica!
Mary!
A musical break is a good time for the First Siblings of Delaware to get a photo together!
Photobombing a "girls only" photo. What a jerk. I think Mun was in the middle of telling me to get out of the picture when this was taken. Rude.
Kids, alcohol is no substitute for friends and family, but it is necessary fuel for karaoke, unless you're Korean. Gives us lyrics on a screen, and we're down to sing.
EW. HATE SONG. DO NOT WANT.
SINGING SONGS LOUDLY.
You tilt your head that way and I'll go the other way. Okay?
After karaoke everyone went to Botanica, obvi. Here's Mary, Chirag!, and Pooja.
And then there were no more photos. Happy birthday Mariya!
The End
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgXveBf_l6k] Neat time-lapse recording of the Manhattan Bridge shaking due to the subway trains passing over it. This bridge is my primary link between my Brooklyn apartment and Manhattan.
Toronto street artist Posterchild (not to be confused with Posterboy) proposed to his girlfriend with the assistance of New York City's subway.

A neat flashy interface that lets you see the demographic and income levels of people in each of the various neighborhoods in New York City.
Trying on hats for the holiday of course. You gots to love hat stores that are open at 1 am and surrounded by bars.
While walking through the East Village after dinner last night, we spotted this mass of bicycles.
Last weekend I went to Lynda's birthday party in Williamsburg.
First the night started off with me tagging along with April and her friend Darlene to an art gallery in LES for a prank. Darlene and the artist exhibiting that night shared a mutual friend. Darlene was asked by this friend to attend the show and tell this artist, who did not know her, that his art was "really boring." Then she presented him with the congratulatory card and bottle of sake, which is what you see going on here in this photograph. There, now you have the whole back story.
Then we met up with everyone else at Lynda's apartment for a little pre-gaming. One of her friends brought this bottle as a birthday.
The apartment party included mandatory face painting. One of Lynda's friends getting some necking action.
We then left the apartment to head to a nearby bar. Along the way, we cut through a park which prompted a sprint race that caused this guy to collapse at the end.
Face painted birthday girl and April.
When I walked into the bar, I heard someone tentatively ask, "...Matt?" I turned and it was MUNIRA! And Mariya! I love randomly running into friends.
AHHHH!
I'm constantly amazed at the amount of handy items girls carry around in their purse. No bar napkins for Dianna after spilling a drink, when she just happened to have some wet wipes in her purse!
A smudged pirate's hat with skull and cross bones at the end of the night.
The End.
A few random photos I tweeted of things I saw or encountered this weekend.
Saw crochet man standing in Union Square on my way to see "Where The Wild Things Are."
Fried chicken, waffles and three bloody marys for Sunday morning brunch with April and her friends.
