Presidential Weight

From the White House Flickr description of the above photo:

President Barack Obama puts his toe on the scale as Trip Director Marvin Nicholson tries to weigh himself during a hold in the volleyball locker room at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, Aug. 9, 2010.

One thing (only thing?) the current POTUS and his predecessor have in common: a sense of humor.

A Tape Deck Is Forever

ggstapedeckA Sony print ad from a 1973 National Geographic.

The child silently cursed his great-grandfather. Old bastard. I wanted an iPod.

Relatedly, my father got me the first ever iPod for a Christmas gift, but unfortunately he had to return it because my mac didn't have a USB port.

Best Research Job Ever

The Grey Lady looks into whether breast movement impacts running form is a question of serious scientific inquiry.

Researchers from the University of Portsmouth in England and other schools recently attached reflective markers to the breasts of a group of female runners and had the women jog along a track while wearing various types of bras or forgoing breast support. The researchers charted the trajectories of the women’s breasts, using infrared cameras.

The researchers conclude: Yes, they have an impact and "[instead] of merely bouncing up and down, it turns out that breasts arc through a complicated figure-8 pattern when a woman runs or walks."

My head just reflexively moved in a figure-8 pattern.

I've enabled on my blog Twitter's new "Tweet" button that appears on the bottom of each of my entries. If you see or read something that you find worthy of sharing with your followers, do me a favor and "tweet" it?

It'd be thug and gangsta of you if you did.

I'm in a Book!

A little hand drawn map (which I often do before going to a neighborhood that I easily get lost in) that I submitted on a whim for Kris Harzinski's book project a couple years ago was accepted. Well, I received a copy of the book in the mail the other week and at the author's request, I'll be speaking at a PR event for the book at the New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (the one with the lions) on September 15. Come say hi!
