LAST NIGHT'S PARTY: THE FINAL BABEL

Thursday, May 31 IMG_9654 Nifty street "art."

IMG_9651 Evidence of the splasher?

IMG_9655 Hmmm.

IMG_9656 Woa...a photo of a photo. Did your brain just explode?

IMG_9657 Lea loves them street art.

IMG_9662 And then we went to Don Hill's.

IMG_9663 Gin and Tonic and Gin and Rummy.

IMG_9665 One of these glasses costs 14 dollars and the other 200.

IMG_9667 You never know when you need tanning 'accelerator.'

IMG_9669 And then we went to Anchor Bar (ssshh don't tell people about it).

IMG_9670 This photo is evidence of Lea's poor sport at getting her arse kicked by yours truly at gin.

IMG_9671 Her ass was on fire, eg. burned from staying a bit too long in the tanning booth.

IMG_9672 At the bar, some group was having a random pizza party. Of course Lea and I REALLY wanted some pizza at this point.

IMG_9673 Success! (I apologize about the gross chewed up food in my mouth.)

IMG_9674 You probably didn't know this but Tasti D Lite is the spot to hang out.

IMG_9675 Lea, that isn't real! It's plastic!

IMG_9676 It's a good night when you have a party wristband by 8 pm. I headed over to the third bar for the night: Babel. Because Cyrus was leaving to embark on the next leg of his life journey (two month layover in Boston, final destination Detroit), this was the final session of Thursday night Babel.

IMG_9677 Peter and Cristina!

IMG_9679 Florian, Peter and Henry enjoying the last free hookah...

IMG_9680 Beth!

IMG_9683 Jeff!

IMG_9682 Middle finger!

IMG_9681 Chloe!

IMG_9684 Henry pulling a rare Blue Steel.

IMG_9685 Cyrus himself!

IMG_9686 Monica (and friend)!

IMG_9687 VIV!!!!!!!!

IMG_9690 Jeff and his ladies.

IMG_9691 Mid party munchies to be fulfilled by the take out Chinese joint.

IMG_9695 Mmmm.

And that is the last of the Thursday Night Babel Promotion by DJ Cyrus Cesa.

For all the photos from these parties, they are all collected here:

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY (5/17/07)

I'm a couple weeks behind on these segments. But better late than never. Cue some jackass saying, "That's what she said!" IMG_9445 Obligatory jump photo on my way to Cy's rapidly ending Thursday night party. Note the matching hoodie with baby blue socks. Totally unintentional.

IMG_9448 "And this is how Mario jumped."

IMG_9449 Yes, Kenny was there which always means one thing--nutty dancing.

IMG_9451 These two demonstrate how to make the switch from corporate office wear to party wear: unbutton the collar shirt. And roll up the sleeves.

IMG_9452 Monica!

IMG_9453 Hookah technicians at work. "Must. Fix. Machine. Must. Get. Smoke."

IMG_9456 Henry and Heidi accompany the DJ.

IMG_9457 Hookah, vodka cranberry, sound making sticks (not sure what they are called...) = Fun.

IMG_9459 Henry also busted out this musical monstrosity from his ever present bookbag o' music.

IMG_9460 Haha.

IMG_9461 I always knew Monica was a raver at heart. Haha.

IMG_9462 Monica's friend getting down to the music.

IMG_9464 Who can resist these things??

IMG_9465 I love Henry's look in this photo. He's like "Of course I carry these things with me everywhere. Don't you?"

IMG_9468 Heidi is going fierce with this thing.

IMG_9470 This is one of the greatest, most hilarious things I've seen--it was like something straight out of those teen-movies from the late 90s and early 00s that always featured some synchronized dance sequence. That's what happened here. Kenny and Henry began the electric slide...and Cy and some of his other friends joined in...

IMG_9469 That night, some random guy completely unconnected to us was having a rather large birthday party there. They saw this dance going on and one by one joined in as well (you can see them in the back in this photo).

IMG_9471 The birthday boy in the blue suit and his friends are LOVIN the electricity of the slide.

IMG_9472 It's tough to tell from the photos, but nearly the entire bar was in on it at this point.

IMG_9473 Heidi is giving it her ALL. Look at that shoulder dip in!

IMG_9475 Ooooh, that's some look she's giving Cy. haha.

IMG_9476 And then Henry got a little side tracked.

IMG_9477 Don't stop git it, git it.

IMG_9478 Kenny is the master of the electric slide. Bow to the master.

IMG_9480 AK-Bootie 7 getting tag teamed on the dance floor.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

Just a few pictures from last week's Babel session. IMG_9430 Annie brought some mangos for the family. How thoughtful.

IMG_9431 Cyrus roared in laughter with a bone chilling edge, his head tilting back, mouth stretched as evil in its organic essence flowed out from within. People stopped mid-movement frozen with terror. "Finally!" he roared. "Millennia of planning, eons of plotting, and pulling strings," he said, "At last! Success is mine." Somewhere from the crowd, a single shriek of dismay and complete surrender escaped, like that of a balloon suddenly pierced, at Cyrus' declaration. No one turned to see who had cried out because each individual believed that they were the culprit. The surrender was total. At this, Cyrus said with a smirk, "I AM NOW YOUR DJ."

IMG_9433 Cy playing the tunes.

IMG_9435 Chris is a fan.

IMG_9438 Chris ruining a perfectly nice photo with bunny ears. Yup, bunny ears.

IMG_9439 No more of the Goose...

IMG_9442 But that doesn't stop the dance! The DANCEEEE!

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

IMG_9372Cyrus sent out a party rallying call on Tuesday (Who goes out on Tuesday anyway?) for an open bar thing at Gallery Bar for URB Magazine. And did you know that the DJ is DJ KENNY PARKER??? KRS-One's younger bro? (Thanks Annie, er, Wikipedia.)

IMG_9373 Annie reading up on the vodka sponsor while Chris does what he does best: texting away on his phone from the future.

IMG_9374 Jeff!! Haha, clearly arriving right after getting off work. A suit in a sea of flashy sneakers and BAPE hoodies. LOVE this kid.

IMG_9375 Am I just really that tan or is Jeff really that pale? I can't tell. Either way we're both keeping it real.

IMG_9376 Annie! She was dropping all this knowledge earlier in the night about the DJ and the whole time I was thinking "Damn, I know a little bit about the hip hop, but she's making me feel mad ignorant." Turns out, she just wikipedia'd the shit. Can't hate on the researching tho.

IMG_9385 Me with Annie and Erika!

IMG_9386 Apparently something in the ceiling was very captivating to us.

IMG_9393 The Lord of Babel enjoying his cold vodka cran.

IMG_9394 Hahaha.

IMG_9397 Texting away.

IMG_9403 Chris and Jeff discussing maybe the next karaoke night. Or the hot tattooed girl. Both fun topics.

IMG_9404 Erika and Cy!

IMG_9406 Heh. Checking out the runway it seems.

IMG_9407 Ah, the ever necessary appropriate hoodie for the hipster party.

IMG_9408 A not so successful jump...

IMG_9409 Success!

WEEKEND UPDATE AND (!!) LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

Yes, people. You read that headline correctly. In this entry you are getting a double header, a two-fer, a two for the price of one special: I'm posting a Weekend Update entry AND a classic Last Night's Party entry. IMG_9281 On Thursday afternoon, I get a message from my buddy Clay in DC asking me to call him back ASAP. Not "asap." But ASAP--in caps. "Yo, I got tickets to the Red Sox/Yankees--I'm coming to New York!" This is his buddy Ben. He and I chilled out in the bleachers with the rest of the hoi poloi while Clay sat elsewhere.

IMG_9282 We were seriously surrounded by douchebags. Peanut throwing, "faggot" yelling, and cursing at old men qualifies them as douches in my book. The kid sitting next to us actually got kicked out by the cops.

IMG_9284 The game was entertaining otherwise. I was bummed the Sox lost, but it was still an enjoyable game.

IMG_9285 I was worried earlier in the day because of the threat of rain, but the night turned out to have really great weather.  Look at that blue sky bitches!!  Perfect baseball weather.

IMG_9286 Afterwards, we kicked it back in Park Slope style at Cherry Tree for some beahs and pizza. Clay rocking out.

IMG_9287 Ben is pensive.

IMG_9287_1 Check out Ben's hat. I think it belonged to his grandfather. That is some quality baseball hat gunk. They had to head back to DC that night. Although they had an interesting drive back.

IMG_9289 At midnight Chris and I motivated ourselves to go to a party in freakin' Williamsburg (place is FAR from Park Slope ya'll) at Chris's friend's apartment. Here's the decidedly unhipster-like host surrounded by his lady friends.

IMG_9290 On the rooftop, it's Tze the adorable partier extraordinaire, Jeff the fun loving party guy, and Nate the good guy who'll dance with any girl to make them happy.

IMG_9294 Hey, it's Cyrus and his tie dye Africa shirt! "It's not tie dye dammit!"

IMG_9292 Finding the roof a bit chilly, we headed to the party downstairs and sat down in the living room to find that our minority presence...

IMG_9293 ...cleared the dance floor. *Insert crickets chirping.*

IMG_9295 I need another drink. My plastic cup (classy) is empty, ya'll.

IMG_9297 Chris concurs. "Yea, you need another drink bro...and get a classy one like mine."

IMG_9298 What's a night with a jump I ask? NOTHING!

IMG_9299 So we went back upstairs and helped ourselves to a couple bottles of wine.

IMG_9301 Cy and Chris are talking, talking, talking. Talk talk talk. "Yea, I need to do some laundry. I could use some quarters--oh wait. GOT IT."

IMG_9304 Ingredients for a solid Saturday night.

IMG_9311 Me and my new friend.

IMG_9310 Yea!

IMG_9313 Getting my dance on.

IMG_9315 She thought she was getting a nice smiling photo but instead it's just me and Chris ruining yet another nice moment. Party on, Wayne.

IMG_9316 Chris and Jeff discussing duck genitalia.

IMG_9318 HAHA. Chris, Jeff, and Nate showing the camera love.

IMG_9320 This guy (Rob?) was INSISTING that Jeff punch him in the face.

IMG_9321 "PUNCH ME!" I'm sure he's a nice kid...but I kinda wanted to see Jeff or someone or ANYONE smack this guy only because he was so freakin' insisting about it.

IMG_9323 "We do need some paper towels..."

IMG_9324 And then people just started jumping everywhere. Jumpfest 2007.

IMG_9325 Cy gets in on it.

IMG_9331 Jump jump!

IMG_9332 Haha. This photo will make Jeff so happy.

IMG_9326 While waiting for Chris as he talked to his friend...

IMG_9327 Cy and I took photos in the hallway.

IMG_9329 HIHIHIHIHIHI

IMG_9330

IMG_9334 Sunday morning, er late morning, er early afternoon, I met up with Cy for our weekly brunch strategizing session. Henry was there along with his old cell phone.

IMG_9335 The latest in cell phone technology, ya'll.

IMG_9336 After food and five cups of coffee, we brought the party to the steps in Union Square.

IMG_9337 Henry and his ever present hat.

IMG_9338 The pain on Cy's face is the inevitability of the fact he has to go into work on Sunday.

IMG_9339

IMG_9339 Monday, on my way home after hitting the gym I receive a text from Chris asking me how I felt about going to a party in LES with him and Jeff because of the nice weather. I responded that I felt good about it. We got there and it was literally a party of three. So instead we headed over to the ol' standby, Pianos. I was expecting a relatively low key night. Little did I know.

IMG_9340 And we found ourselves in the early stages of a karaoke party there that night. Chris and Jeff seem initially skeptical.

IMG_9341 I mean, they were REALLY gawd awful sounding. REALLY AWFUL. But what turned us from haters to...karaoke lovers?

IMG_9343 Total Eclipse of the Heart! Jeff is LOVING it. LOVING the Total Eclipse of the Heart.

IMG_9342 Wow. Chris is pulling "raising the glass" move early...

IMG_9344 THIS photo would go into the Last Night's Party Hall of Fame. Haha. Jeff is studiously examining the Good Book of Songs for song options while Chris looks at him like an insistent wife. "Jeff, we're going with Sinead O'Connor."

IMG_9345 Hmmmm. So many options!

IMG_9346 And then things really got hot with "Intergalactic...planetary..." (say it out loud like a robot).

IMG_9347 Here's a no-surprise: This 'stached guy sang Johnny Cash.

IMG_9349 We're lovin' it! (No--no one did Justin Timberlake.)

IMG_9351 YEA!

IMG_9354 This girl was the star of the night. 1) She was the nuttiest dancer on the floor highlighted by the fact she was practically 7 feet tall, so she kinda stood out to say the least. 2) When she went on stage and looked kind of nervous and suddenly sober, Chris or Jeff said "this is either going to be REALLY amazing or REALLY terrible." If you're wondering what the result was, just look at the picture. LOOK at the mother fucking picture! It was AMAZINGGGG. Possibly one of the greatest thing I've ever seen--along with a guy singing word for word "Gasolina."

IMG_9355 The switch to the bottle beer which lessens the spillage possibilities on the dance floor.

If you want to catch the next karaoke session, check it out at karaoke killed the cat.

LAST WEEKEND'S PARTY

So here are some PG photos to accompany this previous entry about the bachelor party I attended last weekend in Chicago. IMG_9206 The man of the hour...er...weekend. Some of us flew in on Friday night and had a low key night of some deep dish pizza, beers at the apartment and then went out for a few more beers and nachos.

IMG_9205 Nachos!

IMG_9208 Jump!

IMG_9209 Allan is a flying jumping monkey on our way to the Cubs game.

IMG_9211 The best man and the groom show off their flighty coordination.

IMG_9212 Jesse and friends. Go red sox!

IMG_9214 Stan reppin his hometown Mets.

IMG_9215 The game day weather started off nice, with a slight chill...

IMG_9216 But before long, it became cold and...windy, as the city is known for.

IMG_9218 Nonetheless, Allan still manages to pull of a Blue Steel.

IMG_9219 Me and Mike. I think I'm pulling an aborted Blue Steel.

IMG_9221 Jesse pulls out his ear muffs. It's okay though, because it's his weekend and it's his party and he can wear ear muffs if he wants to.

IMG_9224 This is funny to me because Mark looks like a little person. Mark done shrunk himself!

IMG_9225 And it's amazing to see Allan jump so high when he....has no lower legs.

IMG_9226 Jesse attempting to take a photo of his junk with Allan's cell phone. That is brotherly love, kids.

IMG_9227 Post steak dinner. Guess how many people at this table are NOT doctors? Here's a freebie hint: I'm not one.

IMG_9229 After dinner, we went to Hogs and Honeys which should be renamed Bachelorette Parties R Us. I sort of stopped taking photos around this point. Thanks to Mike for taking over camera duties...

IMG_9239 Justin wins a bar contest where he had to take off the girls bra through her shirt and then put it on himself. Yay.

IMG_9240 Just a really hot girl riding the bull...

IMG_9241 Hours later back at the apartment. Jesse and his new shirt.

IMG_0043 W = WINER.

Congrats again Jesse--See you in a few weeks in Tucson. I think there's still time to convince Steph about tuxedo t-shirts.

WEEKEND UPDATE

No photos from Thursday night, but lets just say I ended the night passing out on a couch while wearing a freakin' sweet kimono. Friday night (No work that day thanks to Good Friday), I went to Rififi's to see my friend Dan, from high school perform stand-up. Unfortunately, I got there right after he had finished his set and I was pissed I missed it because putting aside my obvious partiality, I do find his stand up quite hilarious (mmm, jokes about rape, the Holocaust, and abortion). Check out this clip of him from Comedy Central:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS95kFwgEIs]

Go check out his snazzy new website and friend him on Myspace.

IMG_9100 Anyway, check it out: THREE, yes, THREE Alaskans in New York City at the same location and time. Me, Dan, and Dave. Little did the patrons in the bar know that they were in the presence of basically...a lot of Alaskans. If they had, their brains might have exploded. That's why we had to leave the bar--for the welfare of the people inside.

IMG_9101 Dan lives out in LA and didn't bring a jacket to NYC. At his meeting at Comedy Central this week, I guess they felt bad that he didn't have a jacket so they gave him this vest from the Comedy Central roasting of William Shatner (heh, Shat. Insert Beavis and Butthead laugh here.).

IMG_9102 Afterwards, Cy and I went to S'Mac, a mac and cheese restaurant in East Village. Dang, I'm hungry just looking at this picture.

IMG_9104 It was so good, we each got another plate. Haha. I got the 4 cheese and the Cajun one.

IMG_9111 On Thursday night, someone said to me "Who throws themselves two birthday parties, anyway??" Cy does. Saturday night, he had his second birthday party at Kush.

IMG_9112 Chris's dope gigantic beer (Only four dolla too!) and his uh, 69 coat check ticket. Heh.

IMG_9113 Beth and her partner-in-crime from college days. When we first arrived and sat down, Beth asked "Is there dancing that goes on around here? We might have to go somewhere with dancing." Oh, what a prophetic question...

IMG_9114 Dang, those "reserved" signs are so tempting to steal, er, borrow. I'm not saying I was in any way involved, but the following have been borrowed by some people from bars and clubs: Reserved sign; Salt and Pepper shaker; Books; Pillow; And a chair.

IMG_9116 Rupa and her friend (again, I'm terrible with names!).

IMG_9117 Annie and Chris. The party poses started early!

IMG_9120 Yea, so this is the GOOD profile side of my face. From the other side, I'm just a hot mess.

IMG_9123 Birthday boy, Chloe and her British friends. They left for England on Sunday. How do I know this? Because Chloe reminded me about 8 times that they were leaving for England the day after. Haha.

IMG_9124 Rupa is checking to see if her friend bathed.

IMG_9125 Yup!

IMG_9127 I'm trying to think of the last time I went to a party that wasn't a hookah joint. Hmmm. I can't remember...but hookah is just so...good.

IMG_9128 Regarding hookah being good, Reena is thinking, "YEA IT IS!"

IMG_9129 "Birthday boy wants some god damn hookah, Reena! I WANT IT."

IMG_9136 Beth is clearly amusing me here.

IMG_9137 SMOKE.

IMG_9140 MUNIBHEN! (And her friend--I seriously need to take one of those memory classes so I can remember people's names better.)

IMG_9144 Haha. Beth looks...dirty here. Not dirt dirty obviously, but like...Spice Channel dirty here. Damn!

IMG_9146 2/3s of the Dugger clan, not that you can see the resemblance or anything. Haha.

IMG_9147 "Ahh, no more photos!"

IMG_9148 Chloe and her friend.

IMG_9151 Ooooh: A photo OF a photo being taken. How post-something.

IMG_9153 Oh my god, law school's killed Kenny! A rare night away from the law library for this kid.

IMG_9155 And it's Monica! Aka Monkiwi!

IMG_9156 I think I was saying something like, "ARARHHHHGGGHH" here. And that means "Happy Birthday."

IMG_9157 BAM! There it is. Blue Steel bitches!

IMG_9159 Night started getting a little hazy here after these two shots of whiskey for me and Chris. And my peeps know I don't do whiskey. Ever.

IMG_9161 Remember that question Beth asked earlier? "Is there any dancing?" Sheeeeit. It's not all just photo taking and drinking with us.

IMG_9164 And here's Beth doing her part on the dance floor. And look at how HAPPY the guy in the background is that she's doing her thing. Her thing being dropping it low to the ground.

IMG_9164_1 He's like "Yessss. That is wifey right there."

IMG_9167 Kenny capturing the moment so he'll never forget when he is locked back up in the law school dungeon.

IMG_9169 Me, Chloe and Chris.

IMG_9171 Yup.

IMG_9172 I like how Beth and Kenny are doing the sexy thing and me and Chris are just acting like dang fools.

IMG_9177 Dance, dance, dance. Speaking of, I think SexyBack should be retired from all DJ set lists. It's that time.

IMG_9180 Again, soles of the shoes be insulting you.

IMG_9183 Reena is really enjoying wearing my manly scarf and and Chris's hat.

IMG_9188 I think the whiskey shot I had started to kick in around this point...

IMG_9196 Wow. In all the four years or whatever that I've been blogging and taking photos, I've NEVER had a photo like this. "Save to back-up server."

IMG_9197 What is going on here? I know two out of four people here read my blog so hopefully one of them can enlighten me on what occurred at this moment.

IMG_9198 Group shot!

IMG_9200 "ARRRRGHHGHHH," says Matt while Cyrus is heard in the background. "What? Obama, let me call you back tomorrow. I'm out at a club right now. Call you back. What? I'll CALL YOU TOMORROW. Right. Exactly. Peace in the middle east."

IMG_9202 I assumed that we left Kush around 2ish, but the text I sent at 5 am from the pizza joint suggests otherwise. Here's Cy looking exhausted after drinking from basically 9 pm to last call.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

Usual Thursday Babelness (But many of the photos were taken by people other than yours truly): IMG_8982 The shirt theme for the night was apparently the color, gray.

IMG_8983 The lawyer-cum-"party advocate" with Chloe and Cristina.

I call these next series of photos: "Henry with Cristina."

IMG_8984 Henry with Cristina.

IMG_8986 Henry with Cristina.

IMG_8987 Henry with Cristina.

IMG_8991 Cristina giving the camera the ol' hands to the paparazzi face style.

IMG_8992 I don't think Cristina enjoyed dancing with this guy--even though he's the fat guy from Lost. I'm a big fan of the middle finger photo sabotaging going on here.

Picture 24 Doppelganger, no?

IMG_9031 Haha.

IMG_8993 Erica returns from Lebanon.

IMG_8994 Chloe hiding from something behind me.

IMG_8995 In some cultures, showing the sole of your shoes is considered an affront and insult. So basically, we're insulting you right now.

IMG_8996 Forgot their names! Sorry!!

IMG_9000 Chris using his new snazzy phone.

IMG_9002 Rupa and Chloe.

IMG_9009 Haha. I look so ridiculous in the background.

IMG_9010 Peaceeee.

IMG_9016 This is my favorite picture from the night I think. Very...party apropos. I think I'm going to wear ties more often when I go out JUST so I can take it off. Do chicks dig that?

IMG_9018 Doing the two-step.

IMG_9019 A little dance circle, er, triangle...

IMG_9020 The hat style at work here.

IMG_9021 Trying to hide my face. "It's hideous! Hideous I tell you!"

IMG_9023 I just feel dirty looking at this.

IMG_9027 Ha ha ha.

WEEKEND UPDATE

IMG_8953Saturday brunch at the nearby diner. This might've been my fourth cup of coffee. I'm amazed that by this point I could keep the camera steady enough to take this photo.

IMG_8955 Saturday night was library action.

IMG_8956 Psyche! Bar action!

IMG_8954 The natural way to keep a beer chill.

IMG_8957 I heard that Bozo the Clown wears the same pair of boots.

IMG_8958 Of course Chris ruined what was a perfect symmetry of crappy beers by buying a bottle of fancy. Fancypants.

IMG_8960 Along with darts, balancing a beer can is one of my formidable bar skills.

IMG_8961 Ta-da!

Also: if Texas Girl, Lauren sees this entry randomly, please send me that photo you took with us (and sorry we didn't have the ganja for you). And good luck when you move back to New York City to start your magazine career at High Times.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

IMG_8867Thursday was--no big surprise here--Babel. It IS really tough to turn down a free bottle of Goose and hookah action especially after a brutal week.

IMG_8870 Chloe trying to convince her BFF Cristina to inhale. "Everyone's doing it."

IMG_8872 Take two. What's with girls insisting on editorial control with deletion powers over photographs taken?

IMG_8875 Chris agrees: "Yea, what's up wit' dat?"

IMG_8877 Belly dancer appearance. Cue rhythmic clapping.

IMG_8878 I applaud her balancing ability.

IMG_8880 Henry helps the dancer.

IMG_8881 "Come closer."

IMG_8882 Cy looks so happy to be in the middle of this sandwich.

IMG_8883 "ARRRGHHHHH!!!!"

IMG_8884 "Why Chloe? Why?"

IMG_8885 Two thumbs up for Babel thursdays!

IMG_8886 Beautiful girls make Chris act the foolishness.

IMG_8887 Couple of Henry's friends (forgot your names though: sorry!!).

IMG_8889 "It's okay, Matt."

IMG_8890 White smoke of the legal variety. Stay clean, kids.

IMG_8891 "Hmmm."

IMG_8893 Getting their their dance on.

IMG_8899 I kind of like this photo, because of its uh, composition.

IMG_8895 "Gimme your money BITCH!" Haha.

IMG_8896 More foolishness. Haha.

Friday night was 'stay in and drink wine with roommates' night.

IMG_8897_1 Chris entertaining us with some sweet depressing music.

IMG_8898 Kristin avoiding the paparazzi style.

IMG_8904 Luca thinks he's a cat. He loves sitting on laps.

IMG_8905 I am Korean after all...although the Mexican in me would wrap him up in a tortilla.

IMG_8909 Collectively can we all say, "awwww."

Saturday, we went to Cherry Tree on Bergen and 4th Ave. Cool place.

IMG_8915 Grrrr.

IMG_8916 "It's the hat, dude. Chicks DIG the hat."

IMG_8920 Chris ruining a perfectly nice moment with a bit of vulgarity. (High five, bro!)

IMG_8921 Condoms!

IMG_8923 I've never seen Chris so happy!

IMG_8925 An effective way of letting the bartender know that you aren't finished with your drink. OH, speaking of: The bartenders at Cherry Tree kept taking my beer and throwing it out before I had finished it. It happened twice. Fucking pissed me off.

IMG_8926 The Roommates of President Street. This time it's my turn to ruin a photo. "ARRRRGHHHH!"

IMG_8927 Haha. Ass cleavage!

My favorite thing about the bar was BUCK HUNTERRRRR:

n506129499_28308_2100 GANGSTA.

n506129499_28305_1061 I call this the "Dick Cheney." BAM! BUCK SHOT TO YO FACE, PUNK!

n506129499_28304_703 GANGSTA.

IMG_8932 Yea, you.

IMG_8936 Hmmm, some unknown klepto of the bunch with the strainer...

IMG_8939 Haha. This is a brilliant jumping photo.

IMG_8940 The wind up...

IMG_8941 Unsuccessful take two.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

Don't have many photos for this one on account of the camera battery (and sometimes it's good to just put the camera down). IMG_8805 Saturday morning, got up and met up with the Cy for brunch at B and 12th Street.  I got out of Union Square to find myself in the midst of a massive pillow fight taking place there.

IMG_8806 Cy solemnly awaiting his 10 dollar plate of eggs, toast, potatoes, coffee, and mimosa. (Seriously, the best brunch deal I've come across in the City.)

Right, so on top of the brunch being tasty and easy on the wallet, there were these two smoking hot lesbians all over one another who were sitting directly next to us. It was very welcoming-ly distracting.

So after we finished our food, drinks, and lesbian making out gazing, we decided to leave. Outside the restaurant, I noticed it had a street placard advertising 2 for 1 drinks from 4 to 8 pm. I took out my cell phone and checked the time (I don't wear a watch) and turned to Cy. "It's 4:18 right now. Should we...?" When we went back in, the couple saw us and laughed. We explained the happy hour special to them.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

UPDATE: Find Waldo us on the party page of GBH. How obnoxious. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming:

I need to empty my recycle basket. Don't you think?

I like to think that this could be "art" that speaks to the lack of a creative and critical discourse in the modern office in today's capitalist milieu, where paper, which permeates all offices, and it's incredibly discursive quality is minimalized in order to maximize and propogate profit. The physical tabula rasa is used to print rote correspondence seeped in a facade of familiar salutations and amity that only serve to mask the dog-eat-dog nature of business. What I've done here is to crudely equate the perverted symbolism of paper with trash, however by utilizing a recycle basket I'm bluntly screaming that there is no hope. It remains a forever viciously recycled business of corporate robots and soulless peons.

Oh, by and by: I'm selling a limited edition reproduction of this photo for 900 dollars each. And the actual item can be yours for 10,000 dollars.

Speaking of art, on Thursday Carly and I went to an art exhibit in the LES aka an exucuse to drink at the open bar, which was spilling over with uber-hipsters, and three girls who accidentally wandered in ask us what was happening there. So we told them about the exhibit. They looked around and asked us, "Where is The Art?"

Exactly, where IS the art? Hmmm. Deep thoughts. Think about it.

IMG_8770 Ms. Thang.

IMG_8771 Carly and me with my sweet 3-D glasses I found around the office. The place was so jam packed, that she and I ended up chilling out by sitting on the cabinets, quite literally.

IMG_8772 Classy plastic cup.

IMG_8773 Mmm, open bar! (But look at all those barely touched wasted drinks!!! Travesty!)

IMG_8774 Carly's magazine friend Andrew. Thanks dude for hooking us up with free drinks even after the bar 'closed.'

IMG_8775 Andrew (look at his "been frequenting the open bar for quite awhile" eyes...haha) and his super cool friend who is starting her own jewelry company.

IMG_8776 Happy people.

Afterwards, we bounced over to Hiro for Cheeky Bastard partay.

IMG_8779 Haha! This might be the most brilliant photo of Sam. Sam and Nick run a art community website called Heelpress. Go check it out, sign up and join, and upload all your creative efforts.

IMG_8781 Nick--the other half of Heelpress (which later that night as he was talking to a couple girls became a porn site). I think I'm going to bring more prop items out with me. Everyone wanted a turn with those glasses.

IMG_8778 The K to the S doing her best Stevie Wonder impression.

IMG_8782 Pure foolishness.

IMG_8784 A two drink minimum?

IMG_8785 Haha.

LeVar Burton was also there. He kept trying to read us shit from Reading Rainbow, and I was like, "Dude, stop. We're trying to dance!"

IMG_8786 Sweater over shoulder? Yes!

IMG_8788 Haha. As this photo was being taken, Chris--who at the time was flirting with the bartender or something--saw this and thought "I NEED TO BE IN THESE PHOTOS" and he SPRINTED over...just in time to make the next photo:

IMG_8789 Chris literally came to one of those cartoon skidding stops just as the flash went off. Result? Brilliant photo.

IMG_8794 Hot sweaty dance floor mess.

IMG_8795 "And the midget was THIS tall bro! Someone THIS tall can't be calling herself a midget! She was hot though."

IMG_8797 "And this was a tough move, but those How-To Riverdance videos really paid off!"

IMG_8798 Mikey (He can dance better than you) backs up his trunk...and Carly kinda likes it.

IMG_8800 And of course, the night ends with a jump!

Final thoughts: Did I really dance on stage? Did I really see Chris wheelbarreling a girl on the dance floor? Was there really a 50 dollar minimum? Did someone really text message...basically, Pol Pot? And lastly, one thing one should never throw down the gauntlet and call me a pussy.

WEEKEND UPDATE

First, a few photos kindly sent to me (Thanks Lauren!) from an open bar outing a few weeks ago. IMG_0039 I kind of love this photo.

IMG_0041 This might be one of my favorite photos ever from my party photo set.

Anyway, fast forward to the present. Saturday night was an interesting night...unfortunately the camera was left at home. Played wingman to a friend at his ex's going-away send off party. After Saturday, my friend and I are now even for when I dragged him to play wingman at a terrible club on the west side that played only Oldies music all night long.

On Saturday, my friend Jesus's band Zenen performed at the Delancey to help kick off a new monthly music and art event, Tripnotica.

IMG_8754 Some artist was painting on the main floor of the three level bar.

IMG_8755 Jesus and the White Jackets!

IMG_8757 Industrial rocking it!

Then I met up with Cy and we went to Faluka for some silly hookahing, drinking, and dancing. Some photos...

SOCIAL LIFE RECAP

Just a mixmash of randomness... IMG_8732 Some flashing action. WOOHOO.

IMG_8733 "Hark, I see a party, yonder!"

IMG_8735 But first, a jump, natch.

IMG_8737 I have to give C Low a 10 on this jump, if anything for effort because afterwards, he came a-crashing to the ground.

IMG_8738 C is actually 10 feet tall, evidently.

IMG_8742 C and Jamarah look incredibly bored (or hipper than thou arrogance?) at Marquee.

IMG_8743 Ah yea, now it's a partyyyy.

IMG_8745 Take 1: I didn't get the no-smile memo.

IMG_8746 Take 2: Now we're on the same page. I'm going to steal this joke from Chris: Two Alaskans walked into a bar.

IMG_8747 C attempting the sensitive, yet manly tears. Or he was constipated. Not sure which.

P2090009 I'm going for the pound while H is going for the five.

P2090014 H's mouth is radioactive.

P2090019 As my friend Jenn would say, ROAR.

P2090025 Haha.

I'm a modest guy...but I have to say, I think this just may be the hottest picture I've ever had of myself. I'm sorry, I just look GOOD:

P2090032 Yea, you can't get that with plastic surgery. GENETICS baby, genetics.

P2090033 And H is looking pretty good himself here.

P2090036 This is brought to you by the color yellow.

P2090040 Mmm, drinks.

P2090048 P giving the ol' finger to Miami.

P2090052 Haha.

P2090067 OH SNAP, It's a TRAIN!

P2090073 This is brought to you by the color green.

P2090092 I just feel dirty looking at this photo.

P2090103 The coolest girl I know in Miami (after Gloria Estefan).

P2090105 H and S aka my fave getting their groove on.

P2090107 Blurry photo.

P2090113 Haha. I think this is my favorite photo of us dudes.

P2090114 Haha, A in the back was outta control, but in a good way.

P2100125 Hangover breakfast or er, lunch after being out until 7 am.

P2100147 At dinner.

LAST THURSDAY'S PARTY

I went to a launch party for YRB Magazine on Thursday night, although to be honest, if it weren't for the open bar, I probably would not have gone. I definitely needed a drink that day after work. IMG_8711 Cab ride over to Manor.

IMG_8712 I spent the cab ride perfecting the narcissistic art of taking completely unflattering self-portraits. I give this one a 8 out of 10.

IMG_8713 Munira showing off her non-engagement ring.

IMG_8717 Hey, it's Lauren! It's something about open bars that brings people out.

IMG_8718 Chris and his cuz Sophia are like, "YEA! DRINKING! WOOHOO!"

IMG_8720 Don't try this at home, kids: Jumping while holding an open container in a crowded bar.

Once the open bar ended and Manor reverted back to its 12 dollar drinks, we all peace'd out, but some decided to do some jumps in the frigid NYC night.

IMG_8721 Sophia jumps out of the frame of the photo, while wearing heels. THAT is gangsta.

And then we went to Corner Bistro!

IMG_8726 Note the lipstick stain on Cy. Haha.

IMG_8727 Water with tomato and fry?

IMG_8728 "Yes, please."

IMG_8730 The look of pain is because Corner Bistro is SO GOOD. I didn't think I drank very much that night, but apparently I did because when I got home, I peace'd the fuck out and passed out.

LAST WEEK'S PARTY

Just some party pictures. For regular readers, it's about par. IMG_8892.JPG While waiting for the subway, we did some jumps. All that's missing in this fierce jump is the air guitar.

IMG_8893.JPG I shoulda looked the other way for the subway.

IMG_8896.JPG Ben pensively thinking of his flight in 82 hours to South Africa for the next year. (Hope all is well out there, Ben!)

IMG_8898.JPG The most frequent Cyrus expression: "Oh. My. God."

IMG_8899.JPG Check out the hot 3-Dness of my shirt.

IMG_8902.JPG Cy, Viv, and me: None of us were on the same page about the "photo face."

IMG_8904.JPG Viv getting her custom Gatorade.

IMG_8905.JPG Look at Chris's lame camera. LOSER.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY

More Babel Thursday action... IMG_8756.JPG But first, some Subway jump action. This one is brought to you by Chris.

IMG_8757.JPG Mateo gets some air. (I did not jump off the benches)

IMG_8758.JPG The oh-so-free bottle of Goose.

IMG_8759.JPG "Chris, meet Cyrus." "Cyrus, meet Chris."

IMG_8761.JPG Cy hangs back while watching the kids fight over the bottle of Goose like wild jackals.

IMG_8795.JPG Dance, dance, dance.

IMG_8764.JPG Wha wha.

IMG_8769.JPG None of us are thinking about work the next day.

IMG_8771.JPG Jeff's whiteness lights up the room. Boy can salsa tho.

IMG_8773.JPG A thumb up for Babel.

IMG_8770.JPG Chris and Jeff--BFFs.

IMG_8791.JPG Puff puff.

IMG_8790.JPG I've never looked hotter.

IMG_8789.JPG The public interest law thing is paying off really well.

IMG_8788.JPG "So I smacked that ass like this!"

IMG_8786.JPG Dancin, dancin.

IMG_8780.JPG Woa.

IMG_8778.JPG "Wha?" said surprised Chris.

IMG_8775.JPG "Um, Cy. This bottle is empty. That is unacceptable. Please rectify this situation."

IMG_8797.JPG Smoky.

IMG_8803.JPG Jeff preparing for his 4 am meeting the next day.

IMG_8802.JPG The table.

IMG_8792.JPG

IMG_8807.JPG My "get a load of this guy" look.

IMG_8805.JPG Not quite sure this dancing style will catch on in the States.

IMG_8811.JPG Chris offers a platter of Jeff jumping oh so delicately.

IMG_8813.JPG Bodega jumping. It's the latest thing, Moye. Do it.

IMG_8815.JPG My camera has an amazing ability to make people partly disappear. Freaky.

IMG_8816.JPG Doing my favorite jumping pose. Not sure what Chris doing.

IMG_8818.JPG Chipwich. What? Yea, that's what I thought. Keep walking.

IMG_8823 We're so Asian. We bought soy sauce.

IMG_8824 Feeling pretty "AZN" at this point.

LAST NIGHT'S PARTY--BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE US OPEN

My boss sent out an email a few days ago saying that our company's PR firm had some tickets available for this year's tennis US Open launch party to be held at Crobar. Hell yea, I want to go!

Of course when I got there around 9:30ish (the earliest I've ever shown up to a club), there was already a mad number of people crowding the door.

IMG_7762 There was actually a red carpet.

IMG_7763 Tennis fan holding a giant tennis...ball...hoping to get it signed by the pros.

Amazingly, when I told the clipboard bitch that I was on the list, she confirmed and let me in without a hitch. I only waited near the front with the rest of the mini-skirts and douchebags for about five minutes. Easy peasy.

IMG_7765 Yea, and I got to walk the carpet. ... No I didn't. Inside Crobar, they had all sorts of visual party favors--some good and some disturbing--including this mock up, where the not-so-famous (like me) can pose in front of the red carpet backdrop.

IMG_7764 Yes, we get it. This is a tennis party.

IMG_7766 It took me about an hour before I realized that these four models were actually two sets of twins.

IMG_7768 Some non-alcoholic drink that they were sampling at the party. I myself, did a lot of sampling of the Grey Goose at the open bar.

IMG_7770 You can ask this bartender, if you don't believe me. Thanks dude for all those sweet vodka tonics and beers--all the more sweeter because my wallet stayed in ma' back pocket.

IMG_7773 Finally ran into my co-workers. R getting his white boy groove ON. He also dropped his drink about ten times.

IMG_7774 So they had all these various models in ridiculous scenarios all over the club, including this flasher.

IMG_7775 EEEEEK.

Afterwards, we got...gift bags!! The VIP bags were amazing--I shared an elevator with a guy who was delivering three of them to a company on my floor (the VIP bags had Trivia Pursuit--The '80s!) and he showed me the goodies in those bags.

My gift bag items:

There was a box of godiva chocolates but I ate those on the subway last night going home before passing out.

IMG_7780.JPG Energy bar.

IMG_7781.JPG Water bottle.

IMG_7782.JPG Sandals.

IMG_7783.JPG Uh, a figurine from South African Airlines.

IMG_7784.JPG Tanning spray.

IMG_7785.JPG American Apparel tank top. It's a girl's size large. If any large lady wants this, drop me a line.

IMG_7786.JPG Bottle opener.

IMG_7787.JPG Some gift card that's going straight to the trash (like most of the stuff)

IMG_7788.JPG Christina Whorilera's new album. It's the ish. Pretty damn good.

IMG_7789.JPG Listerine.

IMG_7790.JPG Gym membership.

IMG_7791.JPG Uh, a gift certificate to a place in...Tampa. No thanks.

OH, although I did not get a picture, the only celebrity I saw was Tyrese looking ridiculous (or as ridiculous as ridiculously good looking people can look) with a PDiddy mohawk with a hair fork sticking out the back of it.
