Oklahoma photographer Hugh Holland snapped some neat photos that captured the Seventies skateboarding culture.
Explicit? Indecent? Erotic? Or commentary about the way in which women are treated in the workplace? Here's a woman, hard at work, pulled herself up by the bootstraps despite her ethnic heritage, but all you see is that she's topless. It's sad, but the saddest part is that the woman was willing to pose for this photograph without a single question as to the artist's intent. What happened to integrity?
The character Ryan from The Office has an active photo mock-blog where he posts sophmoric black and white "artsy" photos with accompanying context (see above), as well as his responses to comments and (often bleak) critiques of photos submitted by readers. It's amazing.
Thanks to everyone for participating and sending in photos for this group art project per my previous request. It was really fun and neat to see what was sent. Now without further adieu and in no particular order lets all go see everyone's awful reading preferences.
Annie at Frites and Fries. I still haven't finished my copy of Rushdie's Midnight Children...but Kitchen Confidential was a fun read!
Moye's second photo submission. HEY EVERYONE, LOOK AT ALL THAT DUST. Also, sweet vintage Anne of Green Gables collection (disturbing placed next to American Psycho).
Jessica's shelf.
A section of Melissa's tower of books. She and I have very similar tastes.
Second shelf submission by Melissa.
Clay, my fellow science fiction buddy from high school.
Brian in Korea.
Paul's shelf. You get one guess as to what he does for a living. I laughed at the awesome photoshop redact(ion). Someone please send this poor guy something else to read.
Mine.
James P. Gorman, the new CEO of Morgan Stanley has this fantastic photograph of Elvis Presley playfully putting up his fists against Muhammad Ali hanging on the wall of his office.
A group art project for my readers and friends:
Snap a photo of a single shelf on your bookshelf. The only rule is that you can't manipulate the shelf by adding or removing things, so no removing your copy of the Da Vinci Code. Take a photo of it as is.
Send me a link in the comments to your photo or email it to me. In a couple weeks I'll compile and post all the submissions. Above is mine.
A long green park bench in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco snapped by photographer Christian Flatscher.
May you all begin the new year on a happy note and attain higher OT levels in 2010 (I like this picture by photographer Austrian Christian Flatscher).

I get an odd feeling of alterna-history when gazing at this photograph of Fidel Castro visiting Lincoln Memorial when he visited Washington, DC in April 1959 shortly after he assumed power in Cuba.
A collection of photographs of Halloween costumes from the turn of the century. Some of them were downright, truly scary.

Today is election day in New York, which means it's the perfect excuse to share this photo of a woman demonstrating proper firearm usage.
