My current obsession with Downton Abbey makes these kitsch-gentry hat lamps by Jake Phipps relevant.

Hard to believe that just one week ago this was my view of the last sunset of 2011, which ended with delicious meals and drinks on the beach.
In general I think women look better without a hat. Not that women dress for men: I learned a long time ago that they dress to impress other women. Anyway that's just my preference. However, there's always an exception to the rule and this woman pictured above is the exception. Having a million dollar smile helps too.

Women. They are a complete mystery.

Jaws interpreted graphically in this Japanese manga comic version of the popular shark attack film. The link only had scans of a few pages, but the actual comic itself ran about 100 pages. Would love to get my hands on a copy someday.
Confession: Never actually seen the movie though... I did see Deep Blue Sea, which may be best shark attack film ever thanks to this scene.

"The Athlete" by Howard Schartz and Beverly Ornstein is a fascinating photo series of various Olympic-level and professional athletes from around the world and across the sports spectrum that serves to remind us that their body types are as various and diverse as what you may observe at a beach (okay, except with a few more washboard abs than at your local public beach).

The New Yorker collected the best this year from their Talk of the Town segment.
It was [Chrystal] Harris who set up [Hugh] Hefner’s Twitter account. At first, Hefner wrote his messages on paper, counting the characters himself, and Harris would tweet them. Now he uses an iPad.

I'm already looking forward to January 16, 2012.
The form is handy, but I heard that the processing and waiting period is BRUTAL.

I recommend the nasal spray version, but this works too.
