Celebrities never learn from the previous election that the public doesn't really give a flying hanging chad that the cast of Oceans 11 is endorsing X candidate or that Sheryl Crow is going to eat a cup of stuff for Y candidate. And yet their own crushing self of importance compels them to feel the need to LET THE PUBLIC KNOW. The liberal ones have been good so far by generally keeping mum on politics. It's bad enough when so called political pundits and experts open up their goddamn mouths. In a recent interview I read Hollywood's leading gadfly George Clooney even stated something to the effect that he wasn't going to discuss the primaries because the public doesn't care what he has to say. And then BOOM! The celebrities from the A (Scarlett Johansson) to the Z (that uhm, girl from that uhm, movie) list have come out of the floodgates in this ....political music video for Obama...the reeeeeeeeeeeeeeemix. Okay, it's not terrible but while listening to it, I thought that the parts with Obama speaking were the most powerful sections. Okay, the part with Diddy's former butler or whatever playing the violin was terr-ib-le. It almost made me vote for Hillary Clinton, but then I slapped myself hard across the face. Twice. And said to meself "Are ya' ca-razy??"

And now Boy Meets Blog stands on his soapbox. Feel free to close the browser window and move on to the latest Britney update on TMZ. I'll understand.
Hillary Clinton isn't the worst candidate out there. There could be far worse. Look at the Republican line up for instance. And after eight years of the Bush Administration which has felt less like an eight year presidency and more like eight years in an insane asylum run by the inmates, the victimized public will accept anyone that can put together a complete sentence and is a nano step left of the Republicans. We're like a starved child who'll desperately eat anything remotely digestible that is placed in front of us. And in any other election, Hillary Clinton would be my pick because there is no other option. Because that's how it's always been done. Because I am a Democrat. She is a Democrat. And indeed, for most of the past few years this was the inevitable conclusion. But then a viable alternative entered the marketplace of candidates. Another option. Someone that represented a real paradigm shift. Someone anti-dynasty. Someone anti-norm. That someone is Barack Obama. I believe in this man. And I believe he can begin the repairing of the rift and fissures that are deep in this country caused over the past years. Essentialism is a dangerous slippery slope, however he is the first candidate I've ever seen who truly understands that this country is a plurality of color, ethnicity, and disparate histories, and he can bridge these differences. It's time now for someone who has experienced the pain of racism, prejudice, and hate to sit in the Oval Office to affect policy and leadership change. That is a truly inimitable experience unmatched by any of the candidates in either party. And for these reasons, along with the fact that no one has yet to convince me why I shouldn't support Obama, Boy Meets Blog is officially endorsing Barack Obama. And I hope you do as well. If not, I hope you think long and critically about why exactly you don't support him.
Update: Snoop Dogg aka the smoothest talking cat on this planet could really convince me to jump of a bridge if he wanted to. Whattapimp.
