ANOTHER SPANISH SPORTS TEAM MAKING SLIT EYED GESTURE

Following in the racist footsteps of their basketball counterpart, another Spanish team has a group photo of them pulling their eyes back and making the slit eyed expression. This photo, found on their team website by Gawker, was apparently taken after they beat China during the tennis 2008 Federation Cup.

No sponsor told them to do this, so what's this team's excuse? Probably that some of "their best friends" are "Chinese."

I experienced this sort of racism back in I think, 3rd grade from Paul during recess and once from a homeless, mentally imbalanced guy after I only gave him a couple dimes and pennies from my pocket.

So Spanish athletes who find this behavior totally acceptable and defensible: Should I treat and view you then like you are mentally imbalanced or like a little child?

Lastly, here's a gigantic middle finger and a big fuck you to all the athletes involved, sponsors, photographer, and their apologists. I'm far too classy to intentionally insult anyone, so if anyone is interpreting my middle finger directed at them as something inappropriate then they are absolutely confused because it is intended to be interpreted as somewhat loving.

Update: I do have to applaud the Spaniard in the pink sweater standing in the back of the team photo. He thought the Chinese just rocked hard.

[Thanks N]

HOT RACIST GIRL

What's sadder than a real racist person? A really hot racist person. What a shameful waste of a hot girl. Not quite sure what this shit is but it reminds me of ignorant things my white classmates used to do in elementary school. You would think people would grow out of that kinda crap.

Check out the unctuous comments underneath the photo too.  Nah bro, that isn't sooo cute. It's sooo racist.

When she gets old and loses her looks, she'll no longer be a racist hot girl but rather just another sad racist girl.

REALLY RACIST BAR AD

This latest from the Angry Asian Man is yet another reminder why I just have no interest in visiting or living in former Confederate states.  I had an interesting discussion with a friend last night about the particulars of NYC and why I consider it "home."  For whatever problems this city has, I'm pretty confident to say that I don't think any bar in NYC would ever consider anything like this for a Chinese New Year promotion.

OBAMA NOT BLACK? MROD DISAGREES.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nODHv2gxTTo] The incomparable Ms. Smith pointed me towards this segment from the Colbert Report (I hardly watch television any more, even with a DVR, which probably comes as a shock to those who knew me circa "The College Years.") in February where guest, writer, and critical race theorist Debra Dickerson appeared to promote her new contentious book "The End of Blackness" (Confession: I haven't read it). And on the show, she argued that Barack Obama is not actually Black, and consequently lacks credible access to the shared history and legacy of African Americans, because of his biracial heritage.

"But...but, I thought his father is Black?" you ask.

"Nyet" says Dickerson and she notes the oh-so-important distinction that Obama Sr. is Kenyan.

For the layperson, her statement dangerously appears logical, but as Colbert quickly underscored, it's a rather (and obviously) specious argument that she presents, which collapses under its own very illogic nature. To state that Barack Obama isn't Black commits two fallacies. One, it ignores the binary racial framework and reality of American society, as well as the historical roots and context (eg. One drop rule) within which racial identity is formed and shaped in the United States. Second, it robs Obama of his ability to translate and inject his personal narrative into a transformative and empowering voice in an entrenched and static political landscape.

I like to suspect that Dickerson's denial of Obama's Black identity originally developed as an intellectual exercise among her and her friends or colleagues that grew beyond the scope of its purpose and now she's painted herself into a corner on this issue. It's all so ludicrous.

RACIST SONY PSP BILLBOARD

(Via)

The photo above is of a billboard in Holland advertising the new "white" PSP (that is, a PSP that is colored white as oppose to its original black color). I've always been troubled by European (and South Americans) tendencies to deny racism and lines drawn by race and color. This billboard underscores that quality at an insidious level.

While to a certain degree European and American culture is incommensurable, I'm surprised that in today's climate of globalism where borders are no longer so neatly delineated that such a clearly offensive ad like this can emerge from a company that has such a presence on the international stage. How on earth did this see the light of day, let alone a major billboard, without someone in the advertising company or at Sony stepping and say, "Hold on people--This is a pretty offensive."

This example yet reinforces my idea for a particular sort of consulting company.
